UPDATE (LIST OF CANADIAN DELEGATES)

February 28, 2005
No. A/24

MINISTER PETERSON TO LEAD CANADA-U.S. TRADE ADVOCACY DAY

International Trade Minister Jim Peterson will lead a Canada-U.S. trade advocacy day on Capitol Hill on March 1 to engage with new representatives and senators of the 109th Congressional Session.

Joining Minister Peterson for this event will be Belinda Stronach, Conservative International Trade Critic, the Canada-U.S. Inter-Parliamentary Group, the Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture and Forestry, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for international trade and forestry, and several industry associations.

The Canada-U.S. relationship is a unique and vital one, particularly in the areas of security, prosperity and quality of life. This trade advocacy day will provide an opportunity for members of Parliament, senators, provincial partners and the Government of Canada to engage at the beginning of the legislative session with their American counterparts on issues of importance to both Canada and the U.S. within the context of North American competitiveness.

The Canada-U.S. trade advocacy day on Capitol Hill will also feature interactive booths staffed by Canadian officials providing information on Canada-U.S. cooperation in science and technology, environmental innovation, energy, trade, border security and defence.
