MANLEY ANNOUNCES AN OFFICIAL VISIT TO CANADA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS (ICRC), DR. JAKOB KELLENBERGER, MARCH 26-28, 2001
John Manley, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced an official visit to Canada by the President of the
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Dr. Jakob Kellenberger, March 26-28, 2001.
Dr. Kellenberger will meet with Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, Minister Manley, Minister of International
Co-operation, Maria Minna, as well as with senior officials from the Departments of Foreign Affairs, National
Defence and Justice and the Canadian International Development Agency.
The visit will be an opportunity for those involved to discuss the further development of the close partnership
between Canada and the ICRC, Canada's human security agenda, including the protection of civilians in armed
conflict, the role of the ICRC in assisting internally displaced people in armed conflict, war-affected children,
and Canada's continued support and funding of the ICRC.

Le ministre des Affaires étrangères, M. John Manley, a annoncé aujoud'hui que le président du Comité
international de la Croix-Rouge (CICR), M. Jakob Kellenberger, effectuera une visite officielle au Canada du 26
au 28 mars 2001.
M. Kellenberger rencontrera le premier ministre, M. Jean Chrétien, le ministre Manley, la ministre de la
Coopération internationale, Mme Maria Minna ainsi que des hauts fonctionnaires des ministères des Affaires
étrangères, de la Défense nationale, de la Justice et de l'Agence canadienne de développement international.
Cette visite leur donnera l'occasion de discuter de l'approfondissement de la collaboration étroite entre le
Canada et le CICR, des priorités du Canada en matière de sécurité humaine, y compris la protection des civils
dans les conflits armés, du rôle du CICR dans l'aide aux personnes déplacées au cours de conflits armés, des
enfants touchés par la guerre et du soutien et de l'aide financière continus du Canada au CICR.
