CANADA CONDEMNS BOMBING IN SOMALIA

The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, today issued the following statement condemning a car-bombing attempt on the life of the President of Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government, Abdullahi Yusuf:

“Canada condemns this attack and calls on all Somalis to resolve their differences peacefully. While we are relieved that the President was not hurt, the attack regrettably claimed the lives of several people.

“We urge all Somalis to work together to restore peace and stability to their country.”
