Tourist Visa Requirements

Many countries (see list below) require Canadians to obtain a tourist visa before leaving Canada for visits of less than three months. Some countries (identified by an asterisk *) will issue Canadians a tourist visa, tourist card or entry stamp upon arrival. For countries not listed below, see our Country Travel Reports.

Whether or not a country is listed below, you should contact the responsible foreign government office accredited to Canada to ensure that entry requirements have not changed.

Entry requirements have been confirmed with local authorities and to the best of our knowledge are currently valid. Such requirements are subject to change, as it is the sole prerogative of each country to determine who is allowed to enter.

All countries have special requirements for persons intending to visit for extended periods (usually more than 90 days) or those who plan to reside, work, study or engage in non-tourist activities. Do not enter a country with a tourist visa for non-tourist purposes. Violations may result in serious penalties.
