The PDAC is the first national industry association to
develop Operational Statements (OSs) specifically for
its members’ activities. The PDAC Land and Regulations –
DFO subcommittee have posted four of the five low risk
Operational Statements (OSs) which they developed for
mineral exploration that would be acceptable to the
Department of Fisheries (DFO). The fifth will be added
shortly. The PDAC is asking its directors for comments
on these OSs. Please

examined in a series of cross-country roundtables
organized by Foreign Affairs and International Trade

Bill Mercer will represent the PDAC at Minex 2006, to be
held in Moscow, October 4-6. Conference topics include
the investment climate in Russia and other CIS
countries, financing trends and challenges peculiar to
land-locked nations. CIS companies will be on hand to

investors.

On July 28, 2006, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice
announced its decision in the case of Platinex v.
Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation. The judge
ruled in favour of the First Nation, setting conditions
upon further exploration work in the area and
criticizing the Ontario government for not fulfilling
its obligations with respect to consultation. The
judgment directs the First Nation to immediately set up
a consultation committee that will meet with
representatives of the company and the Ontario
government.
