Immigrating to Canada: Refugees

Canada is committed to the resettlement and protection of refugees. Refugees are selected for resettlement from abroad with government assistance or through private sponsorship. The Canadian Embassy in Bogotá accepts applications from Colombians holding a private sponsorship approved in Canada, or referred by the UNHCR in Ecuador, or being personally and seriously affected by the conflict in Colombia. RESETTLEMENT TO CANADA IS NOT A RIGHT FOR COLOMBIAN NATIONALS, WHETHER THEY HAVE RELATIVES IN CANADA OR NOT.

To obtain more information, please consult: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/index.html

You can also obtain more information on the Humanitarian Program by coming in person to the Canadian Embassy in Bogotá. The Canadian Embassy in Ecuador does not offer a Humanitarian Program and does not accept applications. You should be aware that the processing of a refugee application is free.
