AXWORTHY TO VISIT ATLANTA
Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy announced today that he will be in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 31
and June 1, during CNN's 20th anniversary celebrations. The Minister will be attending a benefit concert
on the prohibition of landmines and participating in a roundtable on international affairs at the Carter
Center.
"Former President Carter and his Center have an agenda that is very similar to Canada's in promoting
peace and democracy in the world, said Mr. Axworthy. "This visit is a chance to share our ideas and
strengthen our partnership with this important organization."
While visiting the Carter Center, the Minister will host a roundtable discussion with the executive of the
Center. He will then give a speech at the Center on the topic of Canada's human security agenda.
The Minister will also attend the Concert for a Landmine Free World designed to raise international
awareness of the dangers of landmines and the damage they cause. The concert is being organized by
CNN as part of its 20th anniversary and the World Report Contributors Conference.
