ARGENTINE FOREIGN RELATIONS MINISTER VISITS OTTAWA
Foreign Affairs Minister Lloyd Axworthy today announced the visit of Adalberto Rodríguez Giavarini, Foreign
Relations Minister of Argentina, to Ottawa on June 7. The Minister's visit follows his participation in the
Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly held in Windsor from June 4 to 6.
"I am very pleased that Minister Giavarini has been able to extend his stay in Canada," said Mr. Axworthy. "His
visit to Ottawa will give us the opportunity to discuss ways in which we can strengthen our co-operation on a
range of multilateral issues, including human security, the promotion of democracy, and peacekeeping."
"I look forward to discussing with the Minister the outcome of the OAS General Assembly that has just
concluded," said Secretary of State (Latin America and Africa) David Kilgour. "Our meeting will help us to
advance the hemispheric agenda."
While in Ottawa, Mr. Rodríguez Giavarini will meet with both Minister Axworthy and Secretary of State Kilgour
and will attend Question Period today in the House of Commons. He will also meet with Diane Marleau, M.P.,
President of the Canada-Argentina Parliamentary Association.
