Assistance to Canadians :
Passports
Passport delivery
Since February 2006, Canadians applying for passports in Germany are issued with the security enhanced passport printed in Canada.
The delivery of this new passport requires 15 to 20 working days depending on the season. This includes courier time for the document to be delivered from the printing centre in Canada to our office in Germany.
This initiative is an important part of the Government of Canada’s new National Security Policy and ensures that Canadian travel documents are compliant with International Civil Aviation Organization global standards.
Depending on the urgency of travel and the documents provided, clients may be eligible for a temporary passport. Information regarding the temporary passport can be found by clicking here .
We recommend applying for a new passport well in advance of any travel.
Machine-readable passports
Canadians planning to travel to the United States are advised that they are permitted to do so with a non-machine readable passport and do not require a visa. You will find information on this topic on the website of the Embassy of the United States in Ottawa.
