Assistance to Canadians :

Social Security: Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Spousal Allowance, Disability Pension

The Canadian Embassy in Berlin does not administer Canadian social security plans and due to the Canadian Privacy Act is precluded from obtaining details on individual cases.

Canadian social security plans and benefits are administered by Social Development Canada (SDC). You may obtain forms and information, and learn about the Canada/Germany Social Security Agreement on the internet.

If you have a question about your Canadian social security plan or about the receipt of a cheque, or if you wish to forward a change of address, you should contact HRDC directly, at:

Taxation of Social Security benefits

If you are receiving Canadian social security benefits outside Canada you must complete a yearly income tax return or your pension will be stopped.

Normally 15% of your monthly benefit payment will be automatically withheld as Non-Resident Tax when residing in Germany.

If you think you might be eligible for a tax reduction, or if you require tax information and tax forms please contact the International Tax Office of the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
