CIDA-ACDI
Welcome to the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in Brazil!
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is the principal vehicle of Canada's official development assistance around the world. In line with its institutional mandate, CIDA supports sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and to contribute to a more secure, equitable and prosperous world.
CIDA has approved a competitive and responsive $ 20 million initiative for Brazil called Knowledge Exchange for Equity Promotion Program (KEEP) to be implemented over the 2005-2010 period. Based on exchanges of knowledge between Canadian and Brazilian partner organizations, the program supports short, medium and long-term projects that contribute to the Brazilian efforts to achieve greater equity.
The KEEP initiative supports projects in the areas of governance, health and the world of work in Brazil. Gender and ethnic equality constitute cross-cutting themes for the program. The program concentrates its efforts in areas of the country that suffer from higher concentrations of poverty: the north-eastern region of Brazil and the peripheries of large urban areas. CIDA is committed to supporting Brazil's evolving role as a donor country and the KEEP program is open to supporting cooperation initiatives between Brazil, Canada and a third developing country.
