The
Rocky Mountain IBET is a multi-agency law enforcement team that emphasizes
a harmonized approach to Canadian and United States efforts to target
cross-border criminal activity.
The IBET goal is to help protect Canada and the United States from potential
threats of terrorism, and to impede smuggling of drugs, people, contraband
or other illegal substances by organized crime groups.
The Alberta IBET team includes personnel from the RCMP, Canada Customs
and Revenue Agency (CCRA), Citizenship & Immigration, United States
Border Patrol, United States Customs Service, and other U.S. partners.
These groups are bringing together the expertise and resources of many
different police services and agencies on both sides of the Canada-United
States border.
