Awards and Recognition

Canada Mortgage Bonds Win Second International Award

April 2003 — The Canada Mortgage Bonds (CMB) Program's $3.8 Billion Canadian Dollar issue in June 2002 has been awarded the "Best Canadian Dollar Bond Issue" by EuroWeek, an international publication dedicated to capital market issues. Launched by CMHC in 2001, this is the second consecutive year that the CMB financing program has been recognized internationally for its accomplishments.

These awards are independent and represent the results of comprehensive polls conducted by EuroWeek, a division of Euromoney, a leading provider of financial publications, seminars, and conferences. Banks, borrowers, investors, and intermediaries of the international capital markets were polled by EuroWeek during December for feedback on such awards. The results therefore reflect the opinions of the people best able to judge market performance.

CMHC Wins Prestigious Governance Award

November 2002 — CMHC has won the prestigious 2003 National Award in Governance, awarded by the Conference Board of Canada and Spencer Stuart. This award recognizes organizations that have accomplished innovative and bold solutions to governance challenges.

CMHC won this award for our innovation in the area of enterprise risk management and performance measurement and the role that our Board of Directors has played in integrating this innovation into its comprehensive governance framework.

Our Board believes that good governance should be at the centre of all corporate activities. Our recent enhancements in the areas of enterprise risk management and performance measurement improve the quality of CMHC's decision-making and its capacity to achieve strategic goals.

CMHC Recognized for Leadership in Energy Efficient and Environmentally-Friendly Housing

October 2002 — CMHC has been awarded the 2002 Technical Achievement Award by the internationally renowned Energy and Environmental Building Association (EEBA).

Made up of architects, builders, developers, manufacturers, engineers, utilities, code officials, researchers, educators and environmentalists, the EEBA is dedicated to promoting the awareness, education and development of energy-efficient, environmentally responsible buildings and communities.

Citing our "impact and improvement on the way homes are built across the world", the Association announced that CMHC had been chosen to receive this prestigious honour in recognition of our leadership and long-standing contributions to advancing energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly housing construction technology. In these achievements, CMHC values its long-standing research partnerships with the National Research Council, Natural Resources Canada and Public Works and Government Services Canada. They are integral to our work and should be recognized for their contributions towards this success.
