Welcome to the Municipal Act, 2001 e-guide

The Municipal Act, 2001 took effect on January 1, 2003.

To assist your municipality in working with the act, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, in conjunction with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario and several other municipal associations, has developed the following e-guide to the Municipal Act, 2001.

The e-guide explains the legislation and gives practical information on implementing the Municipal Act, 2001.

The following municipal associations contributed to this collaborative effort:

• the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario;
• the Municipal Finance Officers’ Association of Ontario;
