Assistance to Canadians A full range of consular services is provided through the Canadian Consulate General to Canadian citizens residing or travelling in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda. These include passport and citizenship information, registration for federal elections, notarial services (birth, marriage, death, etc..), and providing emergency assistance in the case of disasters, accidents, arrest and detention or medical emergencies. Emergency Services - After Business Hours: The Consular Client Services Division of Foreign Affairs Canada maintains a 24 hour, seven days a week emergency service for Canadian citizens, designed to assist during periods our offices may be closed. The service covers such matters as deaths, illness, accidents, evacuations, financial problems, missing persons, child abductions/custody, kidnapping, arrest and detention and passport issues. The Consular Section receives the public Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m./ 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., except for holidays.
