The Liberal Party wins fourth straight federal election
Canada held its 38th federal general election on Monday, June 28, 2004 and have elected the Liberal Party for a fourth term. The election results saw the Liberal government win a minority government, the first in 25 years. The Liberals, led by Prime Minister Paul Martin, won 135 seats out of the possible 308 available. The Conservatives won 99 seats, the Bloc Québécois 54, and the New Democratic Party 19. The Liberals had previously held a majority government.
