Oh Canada Team shows its colours

Think of a marathon, but with a more humane twist, and the 40k distance divided up among 10 people. It is definitely more of a pleasure, especially when accomplished in the illustrious company of team "Oh Canada" members. Consul General in Rio, James Hill, persuaded 9 other free spirited individuals (Canadians, Brazilians and a Brit among them) to join him at 07:00 on a Sunday morning on what proved a particularly beautiful, not to mention hot, day to give their best for Canada. Thoughts of a more relaxing beach alternative were no doubt on everyone's mind as the temperatures rose and the challenge of running in a toasty 33°C became apparent.

Undaunted, the team pressed on, had fun, showed their colours and made Canada proud. Congratulations go out to all our runners with special thanks to our colleagues, Luis Azevedo, Business Development Officer at the Rio Consulate who coordinated the roster of runners and times on race day, and to the Public Affairs section of the Embassy in Brasilia, especially Silvia Reis and Paula Ramos, who designed and provided the much coveted maple leaf T-shirts used for the event. Overall "Oh Canada" did pretty well with a total time of 3hs 44 min and 29 seconds. Team "Oh Canada" is actively recruiting for the upcoming Rio half marathon in August. Anyone interested?
