Canada Account Policy Guideline

Under subsection 23(1) of the Export Development Act, R.S., c. E-20, the Minister for International Trade, with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance, may authorize the Export Development Corporation to enter into any transaction or class of transactions which in the opinion of the Minister for International Trade is in the national interest.

Accordingly, to confirm Canada's compliance with the OECD Arrangement on Guidelines for Officially Supported Export Credits, the Minister for International Trade adopts the following policy:

Policy Guideline - Canada Account

For the purposes of an authorization under subsection 23(1) of the Export Development Act of a financing transaction or class of financing transactions, it is the policy of the Minister for International Trade to consider that any such transaction or class of transactions which does not comply with the OECD Arrangement on Guidelines for Officially Supported Export Credits would not be in the national interest.
