GOVERNMENT OF CANADA REPRESENTATION AT THE WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION NEGOTIATIONS IN HONG KONG

The Sixth World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference will take place in Hong Kong, China, from December 13 to 18, 2005. International Trade Minister Jim Peterson, Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister Andy Mitchell, and Senator Jack Austin, Leader of the Government in the Senate, will represent the Government of Canada.

The federal delegation will be joined by a number of provincial representatives, including nine provincial agriculture ministers, representatives of 87 business and civil society organizations, and of Canadian agriculture stakeholders and non-governmental organizations.

Media representatives interested in receiving debriefs from members of the Canadian delegation in Hong Kong are asked to register with International Trade Canada’s Media Relations Office no later than 2 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2005, by calling: 1-613-995-1874. Morning briefings will be held daily. A separate advisory will be issued Monday, December 12, 2005, advising media representatives of times.
