Voting by mail for electors temporarily
absent from Québec

Québec City, September 12, 2006 –– Mr. Marcel Blanchet, Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, wishes to inform Québec electors who are currently staying outside Québec that they can register effective immediately to avail themselves of voting by mail at the time of a general election, a by-election or a referendum.

The electors concerned by this measure are those who have temporarily been away from Québec for two years or less and who intend to return to Québec. Should elections or a referendum be held, these electors will be able to vote by mail, if they are registered to vote of electors outside Québec. The registration form can be downloaded from the Institution’s Web site at the following address: www.electionsquebec.qc.ca
