Fire Marshal's Office

firelogo.gifThe Fire Marshal's Office works to reduce the loss of life and property to fire.

The Fire Marshal is responsible for public education and fire fighter training, as well as for funding and administering volunteer fire departments in Yukon unincorporated communities.

Fire Marshal staff carry out fire and life safety inspections on hotels, motels, public assembly buildings, schools, day care centers, homes for special care, restaurants, etc. throughout Yukon. The Office inspects and permits underground fuel storage tank installations.

The Fire Marshal ensures that the cause and origin of fires in Yukon are investigated. Staff of the Fire Marshal's Office may assist Yukon fire chiefs and the RCMP to carry out fire cause determination scene examinations.

Fire Prevention Week - October 3 - 9
This year's theme is "Test your smoke alarms!" Fire Prevention Week encourages two simple but life saving lessons: Install and test smoke alarms in your home; and develop and practice home fire drills.
