Role of Department of Community Services

Community Services plays a role in the lives of most Yukoners, whether they are registering a vehicle, obtaining a building permit, applying for funds to develop a recreational facility, registering a business, or using a library. We are customer-oriented and we believe in providing a high level of service.

The main purpose of the department of Community Services is to serve Yukoners and their communities. We strive to provide better access to enhanced services, to strengthen communities, to protect communities when forest fires and other kinds of disasters threathen, and to make interactions with government a pleasant and rewarding experience for both the customer and the employee.

We also focus on community affairs and municipal relations within government on behalf of Yukon communities, and as a liaison between community groups and government departments.
