Statistics Canada Census of Population

On May 15, 2001, Statistics Canada conducted the Census of Population in order to develop a statistical portrait of Canada and Canadians on one day. The Census is designed to provide information about people and housing units in Canada by their demographic, social and economic characteristics.

The Census takes place every five years and provides an historical perspective on how communities are changing and how the country is evolving over time.
