The Commissioner is the Government of Canada’s senior representative in the Yukon and has duties that are similar to those of a provincial Lieutenant Governor. The Commissioner’s three main legislative functions are delivering the Speech from the Throne, providing assent to legislation and maintaining responsibility for the Seal of the Yukon.
