General Information General InformationYukon hosts significant deposits of copper, lead, tungsten, zinc and silver. Northeastern Yukon is also home to one of the world’s largest iron ore deposits. There are also significant gold deposits, both hard rock and placer. In addition, several important occurrences of asbestos, barite and coal have been discovered.

Environmental Assessment and PermittingExploration, development and production activities are assessed under the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Act (YESAA). Assessments are conducted by the arms-length Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) or one of its six Designated Offices located throughout the Yukon. The Yukon government is decision maker and responsible for regulating and enforcing permits and licenses.
