About UsThe Women's Directorate became a department of the Yukon Government in 1985. The Minister Responsible for the Women's Directorate is the Honourable Elaine Taylor, who is also the Minister of the Public Service Commission and of Tourism and Culture. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of government policy-making, legislation and program development. We rely heavily upon a network of women's groups and non-government organizations and agencies throughout the Yukon for ensuring that women's concerns are brought forward. The Directorate works with Yukon women's groups and other non-government organizations and serves a public education role to the general public. The Directorate also works with Yukon youth and children to encourage healthy relationships and prevent violence.
