Conflicts Commission

  
The Conflict of Interest Commissioner is an officer of the Legislative Assembly, and is independent from government.  The Yukon’s Conflicts Commissioner is David Jones, Q.C. who was first appointed by the Legislative Assembly on May 14, 2002.  He was reappointed for a further three-year term by the Assembly on April 28, 2005.   This term expires on May 13, 2008.

The Commissioner's primary role is to assist Members of the Yukon Legislative Assembly understand their obligations under the conflict of interest legislation, to assist them in identifying areas of possible conflict and providing them with advice on preventing conflict from occurring.  The Conflicts Commissioner also investigates any complaints made under the legislation.
