Description: The Ombudsman is an independent officer of the Yukon Legislative Assembly. Under the Ombudsman Act, when the office receives a complaint, it may investigate the actions, decisions, recommendations or procedures of Yukon government departments as well as those of many Yukon corporations, commissions and boards. The Office of the Ombudsman may also look into complaints about public schools, colleges and college councils, hospitals and hospital boards that are under the authority of the Yukon government. It may also investigate complaints against governing bodies of professional and occupational associations established or governed by Yukon laws.
