The Recycling Club

When you join the Recycling Club you help your community recycling depot, you help keep your community litter-free and earn some great prizes!

The Club is sponsored by Yukon Environment, the Recycling Fund and participating businesses.

Raven Recycling is responsible for points and prizes on behalf of the Club and other Yukon recycling depots.

How to Become a Member
Pick up a copy of the Recycling Club Prize Guide, fill out the registration form at the back of the booklet and take it to your local recycling centre, or mail it to the Club.

If you were a club member last year, you will need a new membership number for this year.

You can't collect points without a membership number.

You can only be a member of the Club if you are a Yukon resident between the ages of 4 and 16.

If you live in a community without a recycling depot, you will have to find a way to get containers to a participating recycling depot.

Collecting Points
Take your containers to the local recycling depot or Yukon Liquor Corporation Store and collect the refund.

Show your Recycling Club Membership Card and ask for your Club Points Coupon. You will get one point for every penny's worth of refund. For example, an aluminum can with a five cent refund is worth five points.

Save your points coupons so you can keep track of your points.

Points can only be awarded on refundable beverage containers. This includes aluminum cans, beer bottles, liquor containers and most glass and plastic beverage containers.

Friends and relatives can also collect containers and points for you. Either go with them to the recycling depot and ask for a points coupon, or tell your friends your number so they can get a coupon for you when they turn in their containers.

You will not be awarded points for containers obtained from businesses such as restaurants, bars or stores or from groups and organizations who use them for their functions such as sports banquets or community events.

You can't transfer points to another membership number.

Recycling depot volunteers may not collect Club points while they are working at a depot.

No member can collect more than 270,000 points.

Claiming Prizes
Save your Club points until you have enough for a prize from the Club Catalogue. Call the Recycling Club and tell them which prize you want to claim.

The points in your account will be verified through Raven Recycling (please allow a week or two).

Once your points are verified you will receive a voucher for that prize. You can claim your prize by taking the voucher to the participating store (listed on the front of the voucher). If you can't make it to the participating store, you may contact the Recycling Club to arrange for shipping at your expense.

When?
The Club will start in mid-May and end in mid-October. All prizes must be claimed before mid-November. Check the Club Catalog for this year's deadlines.

You must use your prize voucher before mid-January. Remember to pick up your prize before then.
