Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace is an international program promoting the responsible use of wild lands. LNT aims to educate people about the impacts of recreational activity and ways to minimize or prevent them. Leave No Trace is best understood as an educational and ethical program, not as a set of rules and regulations.

Described in more detail in Into the Yukon Wilderness, the no-trace checklist describes the following principles for travel in the Yukon wilds:

  1. Plan to leave no trace
  2. Camp and travel on durable surfaces
  3. Pack in, pack out
  4. Properly dispose of what you can't pack out
  5. Leave what you find
  6. Use stoves and small campfires
  7. Be considerate

Help preserve high quality Yukon wilderness experiences for visitors and residents alike. By adopting no-trace practices, you can help keep the "wild" in Yukon wilderness.
