Robert Deklerk
Geological Database Manager
(Yukon MINFILE)

Robert has been with Exploration and Geological Services Division since September 1991. Robert started as a staff geologist, then managed the Geoscience Information and Sales office for several years, before taking on his present position in 1996, as Geological Database Manager (Yukon MINFILE).

The Yukon MINFILE is a computerized mineral inventory system that documents the exploration history and geology of metallic, industrial mineral and coal occurrences in the Yukon. The database currently contains detailed descriptions of 2593 separate mineral occurrences located throughout the Yukon Territory. As database manager, Robert is responsible for and has supervised the evolution of the Yukon MINFILE database from its original FoxPro platform to its current Access 2000 version. Robert works closely with other staff members and our database contractor to constantly update and improve the usability of Yukon MINFILE. Future plans for the database include eliminating the data entry backlog, revising various data tables and improving the appearance of the data screens.

Robert has a M.Sc. and B.Sc from the University of Windsor (1987). His M.Sc. thesis focused on paleomagnetic measurements in the Kootenay Arc, British Columbia. Following graduation he worked as a contract geologist on various exploration projects.
