Robert E. Leckie Award
This award was created in 1999 as a tribute to Robert E. Leckie, a ming inspector from Mayo, who passed away November 1999. Robert was an innovator who promoted planned reclamation, research, and cooperation that benefited both government and industry. It is presented annually at the Yukon Geoscience Forum to a quartz and placer exploration/mining operation. Nominations You can nominate a placer operator or mining company for reclamation and site restoration efforts that are exceptional, such as:
The nominations are evaluated by a committee which includes the Yukon government, Klondike Placer Miners' Association and the Yukon Chamber of Mines. The deadline for submitting nominations is October 15th.
