Intergovernmental Relations
The Intergovernmental Relations Branch of the Executive Council Office is responsible to ensure that Yukon Government intergovernmental relations are carried out in a coordinated, consistent and effective manner so that other governments will understand and consider the goals, objectives, positions and circumstances of Yukon. The Branch discharges its mandate, in part, by:

Coordinating the Premier's participation in First Ministers' discussions and meetings by providing strategic advice to the Premier and ensuring follow-up on decisions and recommendations made at these meetings.

Consulting, assisting and providing advice to Departments with respect to meetings between federal, provincial and territorial Ministers and Deputy Ministers.

Working with and for Yukon Government departments by promoting and advocating for Yukon's key interests in Ottawa.

Arranging for meetings of ministers and senior officials from Yukon with federal ministers and senior officials.

Representing Yukon at key federal-provincial-territorial (F/P/T) trade and policy sessions and at key diplomatic events.

Representing Yukon at the senior policy level on international and circumpolar affairs by presenting Yukon's issues.

Maintaining strong links with Foreign Affairs Canada and the Canadian Embassy and Alaskan Governor's office in Washington.

Acting as the "eyes and ears" of the Yukon Government with respect to intergovernmental issues and opportunities.

Coordinating the Premier and Ministers' participation in official visits and ceremonies (e.g. ambassadorial and other diplomatic visits, and presentation of honours).

Planning and organizing the swearing-in of the members of the Executive Council and the installation of the Commissioner.

Maintaining a close working relationship with the Offices of the Chief of Protocol of all Canadian jurisdictions.
