Tourism Branch

The Tourism Branch directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Yukon's tourism marketing programs to promote the Yukon as a travel destination.

  • Regional Initiatives improve the quality of Yukon's tourism products to exceed standards through ongoing consultation, training, development of standards and regulaton, promotoing the interests of tourism to Yukon communities and regions who do not have vistor information centres and manages and administers a series of ongoing special projects.  
  • Visitor Information Services is responsible for the management and operation of six Yukon Visitor Information Centre ( formerly VRC's), raising industry's awareness of available information, developing a customer relationship marekting program, managing the department's fulffillment and distrubution systems including the 1-800- Call Centre.
  • Marketing Operations, Overseas develops intertrated travel trade and media programs targeting key market segments in our primary and secondary overseas market in Europe and Asia/Pacific.  Tourism Yukon's travel trade and  media efforts are focused primarily on generating awareness and education of the tourism product through the travel trade and generating destination awareness through travel Media.
  • Marketing Operations, North America develops intergrated consumers, travel trade and media programs targeting key market segments in our Domestic and US markets, and manages a database of Yukon government  photographs.  Tourism Yukon's consumer, travel trade and media efforts are focused primairly on generating awareness and  conversion to Yukon as a travel destination through consumer response driven campaigns, generating awareness and education of tourism product through the travel trade, generating destination awareness  through travel media and fullfillment of inquiries in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Product Development and Research. Working with Yukon's tourism products to meet emerging and existing niche market demand.  Tourism Yukon's product development efforts are focused primarily on delivering workshops to increase industry knowledge, providing general tourism information and business counselling service, supporting niche stakeholders through their product development initiatives including best practices, codes of conduct, packaged product development and pricing. Research provides government and industry with relevent, accurate, and timely information, ensuring that government and industry's promotional efforts are efficient and effective and ensuring that Yukon's tourism products evolve to meet market demand. Tourism Yukon's research efforts are focused  primarily on providing sound, scientific research, measuring the performance of government and industry promotional efforts, providing accurate, current market intelligence to capitalize on new opportunities that support industry development and maintain an accurate database of respondents.
