Youth Directorate - Community Youth Activities

During the summer months, the Youth Directorate provides funding to Dawson City, Mayo, Burwash Landing, Beaver Creek, Faro, Mount Lorne, Tagish and Marsh Lake to support activities for youth.  The criteria are flexible and intended to provide activities for all youth in the community. Other rural communities are supported through the Summer Leadership Program through the Department of Justice.

In May of each year, the Youth Directorate contacts the eligible communities to encourage them to submit a plan for youth activities between June and September.  Once the plan has been reviewed and accepted, funding is sent to the host organization and activities can begin.  Many of the communities use this funding to support employment opportunities, training for youth to help them become employed – like First Aid, or to offer youth programs.  Some examples of past activities include:
