Government Audit Services - Home PageGovernment Audit Services examines the adequacy of internal financial and management controls throughout government. The Branch works cooperatively with senior management and staff to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, economy and accountability of public sector programs. Government Audit Services serves all departments, boards, commissions and government-owned Crown corporations, as defined by Section 1 of the Financial Administration Act. In fulfilling its responsibilities, the Branch provides the following types of audit and advisory services within government:
Our Program Objective is "To provide independent and objective audit and advisory services that will add value and help strengthen government performance." The annual work plan for Government Audit Services is reviewed and approved by a committee of Deputy Ministers. Government Audit Services shares information and coordinates its activities with other providers of assurance services and the Office of the Auditor General to ensure proper audit coverage and minimize duplication of efforts.
