Property Assessment and Taxation
The Unit is responsible for providing the taxing authorities with current, accurate and equitable property assessments along with the delivery of companion programs.
Objectives:
• to value all real property throughout the Yukon for property taxation purposes; • to levy and collect real property tax on properties within the Yukon Government taxation authority; • to maintain and update comprehensive property assessment and taxation database; • to administer the following programs: Home Owners’ Grant Program; Rural Electrification and Telecommunications Program; Senior Property Tax Deferral Program; and Rural Domestic Water Well Program. • to provide market value appraisal services to internal government departments/corporations to assist them with their program requirements.
