Carmacks Building a Pipeline to SuccessPeople in Carmacks are finding employment thanks to the Community Training Funds. The latest success comes from an entry-level Oil and Gas training program completed last December. In January, six graduates were employed full-time in Northern BC and three more found jobs locally where their training was an asset. In fact, some of the graduates were offered work before they had even finished the course. "One of our students felt that he had effectively doubled his earning power, as he could now work winters outside and summers in the Yukon," said Don Marino of the Carmacks Employment Training Society. "Another student said that whenever and wherever an Alaska pipeline goes, he will be qualified, experienced, and ready to get in on the ground floor." "This is truly a wonderful example of how partnerships work. The whole community is seeing social and economic benefits from our training programs." |
