Training Paves The Way For Success

Community Training Funds are putting people to work on the Yukon's highways.

This year, 13 people gained on-the-job training and work experience as a part of the Highway Construction Trainee Program.

"It's a real partnership between government and the private sector," explains Ken Smith, the Director of Training Programs with the Department of Education.

"We support contractors to provide on-the-job training and experience. The end result is that local people are now able to take advantage of future highway work, and contractors have a group of trained, experienced employees available right in the community."
