Corporate Planning Branch

The Corporate Services program provides support services to the Department of Environment in the following areas:

  • Financial Services is responsible for effective and efficient management of the department's budgets and financial operations.
  • Human Resources is responsible for providing staffing and human resource management support to the department.
  • Information Management and Technology is responsible for all information related departmental support functions and was created on April 1, 2002 by amalgamating the previous GIS unit from Policy and Planning, the Data and Systems Administration positions from Finance and Administration, and a Data Analyst position from Fish and Wildlife. We expect improved effectiveness and efficiency by having all information management and systems personnel working as a team.
  • Policy and Planning is primarily responsible for policy and legislation development and land claims support to the department.
  • The Client Services section is a new unit created on April 1, 2002 to provide a better level of service to the public as well as departmental clients. This new unit is made up of a manager, three customer service representatives, two positions dealing with management of departmental property and equipment, a librarian, a part-time records clerk and a publications officer.
  • The Communications section provides support for the corporate communications requirements, including media relations.
