Library Resources

The Environment Yukon Library maintains an extensive collection of Yukon reports and other resource materials pertaining to natural history, biology, zoology, wildlife conservation and management, and environmental issues. The collection is spread through 15 sites, some within the department's Whitehorse locations, others in regional offices.

The public is welcome to use the library for research purposes and may borrow items through their local public or special library. Items are loaned for 28 days and may be renewed.

The public is encouraged to contact the librarian prior to arriving to ensure that a staff person will be available to provide assistance.

The library is also responsible for information requests made under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Access to Information and Protection of Privacy

The Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPP) guarantees access to Yukon government records, with some exceptions. It also guarantees individuals access to their personal information in Yukon government records and gives them the right to correct information.

Individuals or organizations can contact the department, branch or unit directly to request information about records relating to programs, themselves, etc. Direct contact with the department, branch or unit is referred to as in "informal" request. Contact the department's librarian for further information.

If the request can not be answered informally because of exceptions under the ATIPP Act, an individual or organization may apply formally by contacting the ATIPP Act Coordinator at the Information and Communications Technology Division, Department of Highways and Public Works at (867) 393-7048.
