Application Information

Thank-you for your interest in teaching in the Yukon. The information on this page will guide you through our recruitment process.

When to Apply

Apply anytime to establish your applicant file and to be entered in our recruitment database.  Then, apply for specific positions as they are posted. Most job postings occur in April, May and June for the following school year.

The Application Process

  1. Your Applicant File

    To establish your applicant file, provide us with the following:

    • A covering letter indicating you wish to be added to our database
    • Your resume
    • Copies of your university transcripts
    • A copy of your current teaching certificate
    • Copies of your most recent teaching evaluations or student teaching reports
    • An Application for Employment Form
    • A Pastoral Reference and Teacher Faith letter for teaching in our Catholic Schools

    We will use this information to create an applicant file for you, which we will keep open for one year.  We can refer to this file each time you apply for specific positions.

  2. How to Apply

    Once we have your applicant file established we will assign a file number which you should refer to in future communication.

    Then, you can monitor this website for posted competitions.

    When you see a particular posting that interests you, apply for that posting by:

    • quoting the posting number and your applicant file number in a covering letter;
    • attaching a copy of your resume;
    • submitting both documents to the Teacher Recruitment Officer at the e-mail, fax, or postal address indicated at the bottom of that posting.

    If applying by email, enter only the posting number in the subject line of your email.

  3. Things to Remember
    • Your applicant file will remain active for one year.
    • You can update your applicant file at any time.
    • You must apply separately on each posted position for which you wish to be considered.
    • Only those applicants short-listed for a position will be contacted. 

    Please be aware, it is your responsibility to ensure your application is received by the closing date specified on the posting.  If you apply by email, we will respond confirming receipt of your application. 

How We Select Candidates

A short list for each position is determined using the qualifications and experience criteria listed for each position posting, and by applying the Department of Education's Staffing Protocol. From this list, we will select the most suitably qualified pdf candidate.
