Yukon Registered Nurse Education Bursary

Award Amount: $2500 annually for full-time students continuing for a maximum of four years
$500 annually for a part-time student (A one-year award to a part-time student will not obligate the bursary program to make funding available to that student on a continuing basis in subsequent years.)
 
Bursary terms include a return of service, maximum 30 months
Criteria:
  • Current or previous Yukon resident of at least 2 years;
  • Acceptance into an approved basic or post-basic nursing education program of at least 12 weeks duration;
  • Preference to full time students;
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant;
Preference will be given to eligible individuals, in the following order of priority:
  • Yukon residents not employed by the health care system;
  • Non-RN health care workers employed within the Yukon health care system;
  • Yukon First Nations who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements;
  • People usually or previously resident in the Yukon;
  • RNs now resident in the Yukon wishing to pursue post-basic nursing education.
Selection considerations (not in order of priority):
  • Length of residency in the Yukon;
  • Intent to pursue a basic baccalaureate nursing program;
  • Intent to attend nursing education program which provides a skill needed in the Yukon at the time of selection;
  • Demonstrated interest in and/or commitment to health care services as indicated through personal, employment or volunteer history. (Include reference names and contact information where applicable.);
  • The availability of financial support other than this bursary.

Documents Req:
  • Letter of acceptance/proof of enrollment in a designated college or university with a full description of the program. (Conditional letter/proof will accepted);
  • Personal resume which addresses selection considerations
Deadline Date: July 1st each year
The onus shall be upon the candidates to present their application on or before the deadline, complete with all documents.
