Daily Road Report

This is the road report prepared by the Department of Highways and Public Works, for Monday November 06, 2006 at 8:00 am. This road report is updated as conditions change and contains the most recent information available. Please be aware conditions can change without notice, and drive with due care and attention. All Yukon highways are reported to be in normal winter driving condition with the exception of; 

Highway 1, the Alaska Highway,

Construction

km 1296 (Teslin River Bridge), Construction has ended for this season but winter traffic control is in effect till 15 April 2007 when construction is scheduled to resume.  Drive slowly and carefully across the bridge and pay attention to the temporary ramp and width change where the new and old decks meet.
km 1315 (Seaforth Creek Bridge)  expect single-lane detour traffic & minimal delays of up to 5 minutes, including night time delays.  Watch for signage & stopped traffic.
km 1694 – 1703. (Silver City To Slims River)
km 1821 (Donjeck River bridge) to km 1823.

Highway 2, the South Klondike, Motorists are advised to watch for falling rocks from km 58 (Mt.Carmacks) to km 64, and from km 80 (Windy Arm) to km 86 (Venus Mine Site). Canada Customs is open from 8:00 am to midnight. U.S. Customs is open 24 hours.

Highway 3, the Haines Road,  Canada Customs is open from 8:00 am to midnight. U.S. Customs is open 24 hours.

Highway 5, the Dempster Highway, is now closed from Eagle Plains through to Ft. McPherson. The Peel River, and the Arctic Red River ferries are now shut down for the season. For more information call 1-800-661-0750.

Highway 6, the Canol Road, is no longer maintained for the season. Travel at your own risk. The Pelly Barge is now closed for the season.

Highway 7, the Atlin Road, has construction from km 1 to km 6 watch for equipment working.

Highway 9, the Top of the World Highway, is closed. Canada Customs at Little Gold is closed for the season. The George Black ferry is now out of service for the season.

Highway 10, Nahanni Range Road, soft shoulders and rough sections will be encountered throughout.
