Assistance to Canadians in Distress

The Consular Section offers 24-hour emergency service to Canadians who are in distress. If you are a Canadian citizen in the consular territory covered by this office and in need of emergency assistance, call (212) 596-1628. If it is after hours, you will be connected to the Watch Office of the Consular Affairs Division of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada in Ottawa, by simply dialling the phone number and following the instructions provided on the recording for this type of situation. Canadians seeking assistance or information can also call the Watch Office in Canada directly at 1-800 387-3124 or 1-613-996-8885.
