For Industry,

... getting highly qualified people on site

Do you need a qualified scientist or engineer to carry out research in an area important to your future? Talk to us. You can nominate a recent doctoral graduate and if your research project and candidate are approved, NSERC will pay a significant portion of his or her salary for up to two years through our Industrial R&D Fellowships (IRDF) Program.

To help you find a qualified candidate quickly, NSERC has established an inventory of pre-approved IRDF candidates. Any candidates that you nominate from this inventory are automatically eligible for an IRDF, but the reviewers will still have to evaluate and approve your specific project.

If you have a scientist or engineer who would benefit from advanced training, or if you would like to work with a graduate student who might become a future employee, the Industrial Postgraduate Scholarships (IPS) Program is what you are looking for. It provides financial support for two years to master's and doctoral students. To qualify, these students must spend at least 20% of their time working with you at the company facilities. The program is also available to your employees who want to pursue advanced degrees.

Need a top-notch research assistant, but can't afford one? NSERC's Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) Program offers financial assistance to help you hire an undergraduate science or engineering student for up to four months.
