- Students entering their doctoral program directly from their bachelor’s degree are responsible for choosing the type of the award they want (if they are eligible for both the PGS M or PGS D).
- Students who apply directly to NSERC:
- The new deadline is October 15.
- Students who apply directly to NSERC when they are required to apply through a Canadian university will see their applications declared ineligible and rejected. (Please refer to the revised table “Registration Status at time of application” in the section entitled “How do you apply for a scholarship”.)*
- Brief descriptions of the Julie Payette Scholarship and the NSERC André Hamer Postgraduate Prizes are included.*

- The reviewer’s evaluation should also include the match between the applicant’s background and the proposed research project.

- If you hold or have held a CGS from another federal granting agency (CIHR or SSHRC) you are not eligible to apply to NSERC for support at the same level.*
- Proposed research in psychology – new areas in which some eligibility conditions apply include:

- Speech pathology
- Text has been clarified and now reads: “In cases where the proposed research is deemed to fall within the mandate of either CIHR or SSHRC, NSERC will not accept the application.”*
