Turning Kids On to Science,

Today, technologically developed countries are the most prosperous, and this will be even truer in the future. Canada's economic standing will depend on whether or not our kids have a taste for careers in science, math, and engineering. Fortunately, kids naturally adore science – as long as it's well presented.

NSERC is doing its part to make sure it is well presented through the creation of centres for improving K to 12 science teaching. These Centres for Research in Youth, Science Teaching and Learning (CRYSTAL) Pilot Program will be located on university campuses across Canada.

The new CRYSTAL Pilot Program joins two existing programs aimed at turning kids on to science: PromoScience and the Michael Smith Awards.
