2006 Research Grants Competition Results ,

Listings of the results of the 2006 Discovery Grants competition are now available. You may access these by selecting one of the following lists:

The first listing contains the awards sorted by GSC. The second contains the same information sorted by institution. In both lists, only new grants are provided; conditional awards and ongoing instalments of awards made in previous years are not included. The lists are not indexed. Your search is dependent on the searching capabilities of your Web browser. Lists contain the name and affiliation of the award recipient, the title of the award, the name(s) of any co-applicants, the duration of the grant, the grant program, and the amount awarded in the first year of the award. These lists are for information only.

Notes on the 2006 Competition

NSERC set aside $15 million for the 819 new researchers applying to the Discovery Grants Program. These funds had to be taken from within the current Discovery Grants envelope, which created enormous pressure on the budget for renewing applicants.

NSERC allocated $36 million to the Research Tools and Instruments (Category 1) competition, which resulted in a 36.8 per cent funding rate. Grant selection committees gave priority to applications where the need and urgency were particularly pronounced.
