Principles Governing Membership,

Program Evaluation Committee

The Program Evaluation Committee is composed of a core of eight members (including the Chair) and two ex-officio members, the President and Vice-President of NSERC. A majority of members will be from the science and engineering community. The membership must also include individuals whose prime expertise is in the fields of program evaluation and statistics. Collectively, the membership should have a solid knowledge of the purpose of NSERC's programs and an appreciation of the purpose of program evaluation and program performance measurement. The Committee must also have a reasonable regional balance and a minimum of two francophones and two women.

The Committee may also be augmented by members, selected on an ad hoc basis, for assistance with particular evaluation projects.

With the exception of the ex-officio members, no member will be a current member of Council or its standing committees.

Duration of Term

Members are as a general rule appointed for three-year terms once a rotation system (based on a three-year term) has been established. The Chair will normally be appointed for a two-year term, which may result in a total of four years of service on the Committee.
